The information about preparations and the course of the 34th International Fair of Folk Art.

The opening ceremony will take place on 20th August 2010 at 12.00 a .m. at the Main Market Square on the Stage near the Town Hall Tower. The main organizer of Fair is the “Cepelia” Polish Art and Handicraft Foundation in Warsaw ,ul. Chmielna 8 and Jan Włostowski as its President.
The executive and organizing body is the International Fair of Folk Art Bureau in Cracow , ul. Słowiańska 3, with Józef Spiszak as its Director and his co-workers : Marta Kieta, Paulina Baran, Kazimierz Nowak.
All information about the Fair you could find on the website www.cepelia.cracow.pl, including established program, application forms and the program – after working it out
in details.
The Fair will be taken under the honorable auspices of professor Jacek Majchrowski the Mayor of Royal Capital City of Cracow and Alfred Domagalski , the President of the Management Board of the National Cooperative Council. There will provide also for Patrons of the Day, Media Patrons, Financial Partners and Program Partners.
At this stage being negotiated, what we say in the rest of the information.
General assumption of the International Fair of Folk Art is presentation of that art, outputs of folk arts and crafts on the Main Market Square in Cracow , which is famous for big fairs and markets from centuries. Michał Kozioł will write about this in the Fair Program – “Bargaining and trading on the Cracovian Main Market Square” , Michał Niezabitowski the Director
of Historic Museum City of Cracow will tell us what will happen “Under the Plate Market” after long-term archeological research and preparation of design.
By 10 days of the Fair (because they take so much), first of all artists and craftsmen will present themselves on the Main Market Square; about 450 people from different parts
of Poland, and Our Neighbors as Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Lithuania; we have also exotic applications from Pakistan and Cyprus.
Within 10 days on the Stage 140 artistic ensembles from all over the world will present themselves, there will be: song and dance ensembles members at the “Cepelia”, participants
of the International Highland Folklore Festival in Zakopane – from Asia, Africa, South America, Europe, Russia , Kazakhstan , Caucasian Republics .
The Festival Day, i.e. on 23th August 2010, promises to be very attractive. Individual Days on the Stage and in exhibition programs will be devoted to different countries, regions, provinces, cities, towns and villages; there will present themselves folk artists, bands, storytellers, song and dance ensembles, rural housewives ensembles, houses of culture, regional associations – we tell about them in detail in subsequent sections.
We expect that about 120 stalls with folk art and crafts conducted by “Cepelia” partnerships and cooperatives and folk artists, will appear on the Main Market Square .
The Fair will start with a strong chord, i.e. on the Opening Day 20th August 2010. That day will be devoted to 35th Anniversary of the Cracow City Folk Band “Andrusy” and to its leader Aleksander Łodzia-Kobyliński called “Makino”; city folk bands from different parts of Poland , and perhaps from abroad, will occur during the Day. Because “Makino” has his base of artistic in Zwierzyniec, and he also comes from Zwierzyniec, in connection with the centenary of the connection Zwierzyniec District to the City of Cracow we would like to devoted to this Historic District in the program a lot of time and place – its history, art, fairs.

As you could see this year program of the 34th International Fair of Folk Art is very rich. It is very important to find suitable financial sponsors – what we work very hard on.
PS: As to the opening of the International Fair of Folk Art 2 month left our program could be slightly changed , often through no fault of the organizers.
